In recent years El Puerto de Gijón has experienced a notable increase in stopovers, moving around the 20 annual stopovers and exceeding in many cases the 30,000 passengers a year.
The Port of Gijón, located in the center of the Spanish Cantabrian Coast (43º34′ / 5º40’W), is integrated into the cruise routes of the European Atlantic and also in the repositioning itineraries between the Baltic and the Mediterranean.
A sheltered, easily accessible port, it is able to accommodate the largest cruise ships that exist today on the market, in any weather conditions.
An ideal port, for large vessels due to its berthing facilities (the largest cruise ship docked in Gijón: Anthem of the Seas and its twin Ovation of the Seas – 348 m length), as well as for smaller and more luxurious vessels, including the more and more common expedition cruises.
